LEGO’s Super Mario sets, based on the video games and with quite a bit of electronic integration, have become a surprise hit. The way the modular Mario figure talks and changes behavior based on his costume is addictive. LEGO will keep the money train going in 2021
The biggest addition we know for next year is the set “Master Your Adventure Maker”. This offers the biggest change to the basic level-building formula: a “customization machine” that allows players to change how Mario reacts to three different Special Bricks. The starting pipe can also shake up the podium victory conditions, challenging the player to complete it in less time with more rewards.
Other additions to the Super Mario line include ten new enemies in Character Packs, most of which are variations of existing creatures, such as the Parachute Goomba, Poison Mushroom, or Thwip. New costumes, each with their own “powers,” including the classic Tanooki Mario and Penguin Mario.
Of course, all new sets will be compatible with the sets released this year, providing more and greater resources to create massive LEGO Mario levels to complete. The first batch will be out on January 1, and you can probably expect at least one more drop in 2021.
