Every once in a while, LEGO announces something so big that it sets new records, like the tallest Marvel set ever, or the most pieces in a single set… twice. But now LEGO has something really big coming up and ̵

The announcement of the pre-announcement comes to us via a tweet and reveals almost nothing. Click on the video in the tweet and you will be treated to a black and white sketch of a LEGO brick with very colorful studs. The contours glow and fade, and the studs themselves undergo various special effects.
What could it all mean? Frankly, we’re not sure. It could be a sequel to LEGO VIDIYO, which seems unlikely. It could be a new set of containers in collaboration with IKEA. But none of those ideas seem worthy of the words “great announcement.”
If you want to guess a cake in the sky, it might be new LED lit LEGO sets. You can now buy aftermarket kits to lighten up your existing LEGO sets, but they are expensive and require a lot of work. Usually it involves partially disassembling a kit and reassembling it with custom LED bricks. However, they look really great if you put in the effort (see this author’s LEGO Disney castle above).
Or maybe LEGO will expand into furniture and smart home, and we’ll see LEGO-shaped smart lights soon. Unfortunately, we won’t really know until LEGO tells you on June 26. In any case, that excludes LEGO Masters announcement, as the second season starts on June 1. But if LEGO tells us more, we’ll let you know.
