LoganPaul vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Start time, how to watch, rules and what to expect

Yes, it really happens.

Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather Jr. arguing this weekend. It really happens. Their long-discussed boxing match takes place on June 6 at Miami̵

7;s Hard Rock Stadium.

Before the match, there was a staredown between the two that got a little… intimate.

And here was Logan Paul’s response.

Start time

In the U.S the PPV starts on Sunday, June 6 at 8:00 PM EDT (5:00 PM PDT).

In the United Kingdom the PPV starts on Monday 7th June at 1am BST.

In Australia the PPV begins Monday, June 7 at 10 a.m. AEST.

How to watch?

The easiest way to watch online is through Fanmio.

Those who want to see the fight must get pay-per-view access. A ticket to watch the fight comes with a T-shirt and costs $49.99 (£36, AU$64).

Fanmio’s site says that 20 US residents who sign up for Fanmio will also get a video meet-and-greet with the fighters — and the giveaway rules say those winners don’t have to buy the fight to enter the draw .

However, there are other ways to look.

In the U.S you can pay Mayweather’s usual partner Showtime $49.99 to watch the fight.

In the United Kingdom you can watch via Sky Sports Box Office for a relatively cheap £16.95.

In Australia you can watch through the Main Event for AU$49.95, which is cheaper than you pay on Fanmio, but you need access to Foxtel to get into the Main Event, which makes things even more difficult. If you don’t have a Foxtel subscription yet, it’s best to just go the Fanmio route.

Battle Details

This special exhibition lasts eight rounds of three minutes each. Both fighters will wear 12 oz gloves.

Logan Paul must weigh 190 pounds or less for the fight or he will be fined $100,000 for every pound he gains. Mayweather will most likely weigh around 160lbs and will be at a huge disadvantage. Paul is about 6 feet 2 inches with a reach of 76 inches, while Mayweather is about 5 feet 8 inches with a reach of 72 inches.

Since the fight is an exhibition, it has been confirmed that there will be no judges. Knockouts are legal and at the discretion of the judge. If the bout comes to an end, there will be no official jury result, the Florida State Boxing Commission told Sky News.

Who is Logan Paul?

The 26-year-old Ohio native and his brother, Jake, first became famous for their Vine and YouTube videos. Paul then moved to LA and engaged in all kinds of entertainment, from acting to running a clothing line. He is not without controversy: in 2018 he was heavily criticized for filming a corpse in a Japanese forest known as a suicide location, and YouTube has removed ads from its channel for questionable content in the past. But his fans don’t seem to care: his YouTube channel has more than 22 million subscribers.

As for sports, Paul was a high school athlete and took part in wrestling and football. But his boxing record isn’t exactly long. In 2018, he fought British YouTuber KSI (real name: Olajide William Olatunji) to a majority draw in what was considered an amateur match. In 2019, the two held a rematch that was considered a professional match, which ended in a split decision victory for KSI. So with zero wins to his name, he’s decided to beat a famous undefeated boxer. If you do.

Who is Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

Mayweather is the best boxer of his generation.

Thanks to SHOWTIME

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a lot older than Paul, at age 44. And he is much, much more experienced in the ring. He has won 15 major world titles in five weight divisions, with a 50-0 record in the sport, a bronze medal in the 1996 Olympics and three U.S. Golden Gloves Championships. (Note that he won that Olympic medal when Logan Paul was only a year old.)

So why is the undefeated former champion taking on a YouTuber who has never won a fight? It’s not about the boxing – the fight doesn’t count anywhere, it’s an exhibition. Think of those two irresistible elements: money and fame.

“It’s likely that only the promise of another lucrative payday can convince ‘Money’ Mayweather to put his gloves back on, and Paul will make for an opponent with big name recognition despite a lack of boxing experience,” the Washington Post reported. The paper noted that for Paul, it’s not about who wins, it’s about exposure, which makes him even more famous and opens up more opportunities and future paydays.

That’s the gist, but if you want to catch up on the juicy, possibly fabricated drama leading up to the fight…keep reading.

The Floyd Mayweather and Jake Paul confrontation?

No, that’s not a typo.

Despite Floyd Mayweather fighting his brother Logan Paul, Jake Paul got into quite a situation with Mayweather, due to he steals his baseball cap after a press conference for the fight between Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather.

The above Twitter thread shows most of the best footage. Jake Paul and Mayweather had a confrontation, they talked back and forth about an argument between them, Jake Paul snatched Mayweather’s hat and then… all hell broke loose.

Whether it was a publicity stunt or not, this has generated quite a bit of attention on social media.

Everyone is going to make a lot of money.

What to expect?

Part of the appeal of this is that it’s hard to know what to expect. The most obvious outcome is Mayweather outboxing Paul and possibly knocking him out. But Mayweather is 44 and he gives up at least 30 pounds in weight. It’s hard to imagine Logan even touching Paul Mayweather given his defensive prowess, but we haven’t seen him fight since the McGregor fight and that was nearly four years ago.

Here are some clips of their training.

Floyd seems confident.

“These guys have done a great job of fooling the public that they are real fighters,” he said. “I don’t have to use my A-game, my B-game, my C-game. I can use my Z-game. I don’t even have to hit it hard.”

Sounds ominous.
