Make buying things easier on Instagram with the Cashier function «Smartphones :: Gadgethacks

Instagram wants to bridge the gap between advertising and shopping for a more central buying experience. The app has long been an advertising platform, where both companies and creators use it as an outlet to link to products, so it makes sense that Instagram allows users to purchase content in messages without leaving the app.

Instagram introduced the feature on March 1

9, 2019, which shows how easy it can be to buy a product that you like in a post. If it works, it comes to that promise. However, many stores still do not participate and in many stores you cannot purchase items with Checkout (more on that below).

Step 1: Find a message with products

To start, look for messages that have a small shopping bag icon in the upper right corner of the thumbnail. Only images have it, while video & # 39; s always display the video icon instead. The shopping bag icon is also located at the bottom left of an image or video in the post itself. The shopping bag icon indicates that there are product links in the mail. However, that does not mean that there is an option to immediately check out on Instagram.

You & # 39; The icon also appears on the account's Instagram profile if they have items to sell in their store. If you tap it, you will see all the products that the user has tagged in messages. Again, there are no guarantees that you can purchase products with Checkout via Instagram, but it is a convenient way to find products quickly.

Here is the Instagram list of currently eligible companies and brands . Unfortunately it has not been updated since the launch of Checkout in March 2019, but it is a good start:

Adidas @adidaswomen & @adidasoriginals
Anastasia Beverly Hills @anastasiabeverlyhills
Balmain @balmain
Burberry @burberry
ColourPop @colourpopcosmetics
Dior @dior
H&M @hm
Huda Beauty @hudabeautyshop
KKW @kkwbeauty
Kylie Cosmetics @kyliecosmetics
MAC Cosmetics @maccosmetics @ 194590 michaelkors
NARS @narsissist
Nike @niketraining & @nikewomen
NYX Cosmetics @nyxcosmetics
Oscar de la Renta @oscardelarenta
Ouai Hair @theouai
Outdoor Voices @outdoorvoices
Prada @prada
Revolve @revolve
Uniqlo @uniqlo
Warby Parker @warbyparker
Zara @zara

Step 2: View all products in the post

On the maker's profile page, in on the t abblad Store, tap a product to view more ab information from it. From an image post with the shopping bag icon at the bottom left, tap anywhere on the image to show bubbles with one or more products tagged in the image, complete with price tags.

If the item is compatible with At checkout you see the characteristic double arrow of Instagram appear next to the price. If you don't see that, it means that you have to buy the item on the manufacturer's website.

Step 3: Bookmark Products for later (Optional)

Tap a product to view the in-app product page view from the bubble tags on the image or from the product list on the photo & # 39; s and video & # 39; s sheet. You can tap the bookmark icon next to the product name on the detail page or on the In This Photo or In This Video .

If you do this, the item will be added to your wishlist for later and you can tap "View" in the pop-up to open your list. If you want to view everything saved later, you can also tap the hamburger icon in the top right corner of your profile page and then "Saved" in the menu. Then tap the "Wish List" album to view your saved products.

Step 4: Customize products that you want to buy

If you see the "View on website" button on the detail page of a product, you must purchase it in an in-app browser or open it in your full web browser. We recommend using a full browser because it is too easy to accidentally close the in-app browser.

If you use the & # 39; Add to bag & # 39; button instead. You are ready to go. You can then choose from various options such as size and color, if available, depending on the product. To adjust an attribute, tap the option (for example, tap "Color") and then select the desired choice. Then, when you're done, tap "Add to bag" to do that.

Again, if you only see "View on website", the checkout function is not yet available for that product, but you can still purchase the item via the in-app browser or a full browser (which is not that simple is).

Step 5: View your shopping basket

After you tap "Add to shopping basket" for the item Checkout compatible, it will be brought to that bag. You don't have to check out yet, but if you want, tap & # 39; Continue to checkout & # 39 ;. If you want to continue shopping, hit back, search for more products and add them to your bag. If you can't find anything else, you can start checking out by tapping the hamburger icon on your profile page, followed by "Shopping bag".

Step 6: Make your purchase

If you are using this function for the first time, Instagram asks for your name, e-mail address, billing information and shipping address. Follow the steps and enter the required information. Once you've done this, tap "Next" on each page.

After you have added all required information, tap "Place order" and the product is as good as yours. Instagram stores all your information for future purchases, so the next time you click on & # 39; Process to checkout & # 39; , you can then immediately click & # 39; Place Order & # 39; tap on the next page.

Instagram sends you notifications once the order has been shipped and once it has been delivered, you must therefore enable notifications for the app on your iPhone or Android device.

Step 7: Checking, canceling or returning orders (optional)

Once you have made a purchase, you can view these and other orders by tapping "View Orders" on the screen Checkout . You can also find your orders via the hamburger icon in your profile; tap "Orders" to see them all.

Select the relevant order and you can view its status on the page Details . You can also tap "Cancellations" to cancel the purchase. You have 30 minutes to do this after buying. After you have received the item, you can also tap "Returns" to start a return shipment, if necessary, and the return policy differs per store.

Step 8: Delete your payment and shipping information (optional)

If you decide that you do not want to link your newly entered information to your Instagram account, you can delete it at any time. Tap your profile icon at the bottom right and then the burger menu in the top right corner. Tap "Settings" and then "Payments" and you will find all the information you entered above under "Payment methods", "Contact info" and "Delivery information".

Although the information is divided into different pages, it is remove each exactly the same. Take for example & # 39; Payment methods & # 39 ;. Tap the payment that you want to delete. Then tap & # 39; Delete & # 39; on the next page. Finally, tap & # 39; Delete & # 39; again and your payment details will be deleted from your account.
