Manage and delete contacts on your iPhone or iPad

Your contact book is your gateway to all telephone conversations in your personal and professional life. Follow these steps to manage your contacts book, customize the Contacts app, and delete contacts on your iPhone and iPad.

Set up contacts account

The first thing you want to do is set up an account for which you can synchronize and save your contacts. Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone or iPad and go to "Password and accounts."

Choose from one of the services where you already have your contact book. This can be iCloud, Google, Microsoft Exchange, Yahoo, Outlook, AOL or a personal server.

After logging in, you can choose which account information you want to synchronize. Make sure that the "Contacts" option is enabled here. Set default account for Contacts sync

If you use multiple accounts on your iPhone or iPad and only want a specific account to sync your contacts, you can do this

Go to the Settings app and tap "Contacts" Select the option "Default account"

You will now see all your accounts Tap an account to to make it the new default account.

 Choose one of the accounts to become the standard of it

One delete contact

You can easily remove a contact from the Contacts app or the phone app.

Open the "Contacts" app and search for a contact. Then select a contact to open their contact card.

Tap the "Edit" button here in the top right corner.

Swipe to the bottom of this screen and tap "Delete contact."

Confirm the action from the pop-up by tapping "Delete contact" again.

You will be returned to the contact list screen and the contact will be deleted. You can continue to do this for all contacts that you want to delete.

Customize contacts app

You can customize how the contacts in the app are displayed by going to the "Contacts" option in the "Settings" app.

Here you can tap on the "Sort order" option to sort your contacts alphabetically by first name or last name.

In the same way, you can use the "View order" option to choose whether you want to display the first name of a contact before or after the last name.

You can also tap the "Short name" option to choose how a contact's name is displayed in apps such as Mail, Messages, Phone, etc.

With the iPhone you can set a contact-specific ringtone and vibrat ion warnings. If you want a quick and easy way to identify a caller (such as a family member), a custom ring tone is the best way to do this. You know who's calling without looking at your iPhone.
