Since the US military awarded Microsoft’s HoloLens a $ 480 million contract, the battle for enterprise augmented reality has accelerated.
Now, the technology giant in Redmond, Washington, is looking to tighten its grip on the fast-growing AR business space with the introduction of the HoloLens 2 Industrial Edition.

The new version of the HoloLens 2 has been specifically designed to meet the needs of pharmaceutical and semiconductor customers by meeting cleanroom (ISO 14644-1 Class 5-8) and particulate emissions (UL Class I Div 2) standards.
“With HoloLens 2 Industrial Edition, customers can now use HoloLens 2 in limited environments without changing your space, protocols or workflows,” Microsoft said on Monday.
The new version of the device makes especially sense in the aftermath of the pandemic, as a wide range of industries are trying to adapt their workflows to handle some of the new challenges of the past year. In addition to the improved device, Microsoft also offers a two-year warranty and a quick replacement option.
Microsoft’s HoloLens 2 Industrial Edition is available for pre-order today for $ 4,950 and will ship in the spring.
