Kills are what makes Mortal Kombat, well, Mortal Kombat. Over-the-top violence has kept players coming back again and again. Mortal Kombat 11 continues the trend with all-new ways to chop, disfigure and disassemble your opponents. Since its release in March 2019, Mortal Kombat 11 has added a handful of new fighters to the mix, each with their own unique finishing moves. Nothing beats watching Sylvester Stallone’s John Rambo remove Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator. There is a certain level of skill and memory associated with pulling out these gruesome finishers. This guide will focus on how to perform fatalities in Mortal Kombat 11 and how to unlock more.
How to do a fatality
In all cases, fatalities can occur Mortal Kombat 11‘s modes, except for story mode. There is a certain boss character that you can’t perform Fatality on either, but we think you’ll be happy with the alternative when the moment arises.
A fatality can only be taken after winning a match – two out of three rounds in the fight. At this point the announcer says “Kill him!” or “Kill her!” and you will have to do the correct order of buttons to start the Fatality. This should be fairly quick, but you don’t have to do it with the blazing speed of the game’s harder combo attacks.
If you don’t know the correct order of buttons for your character, go to the pause menu and select ‘move list’. From there, go to the “finish moves” tab, and your fatalities will all be displayed.
You need to stand a certain distance from your target next to the button sequence. If it says “Close” next to the move, you should be right against it. If it says “Mid” you should be a few feet away, and if it says “Far” you should be a few feet away. If you entered it correctly, your controller will vibrate and you will hear a dramatic tune. Enjoy the carnage!
You can also purchase “easy Fatality” tokens from the online store. These cost Time Krystals, which are awarded through normal play and can be purchased separately for real money. Once you have the token, you can do the easy fatality you want by holding the right button and pressing the button mentioned in the pause menu.
The more fatalities to unlock
You only have one fatality per character when you start Mortal Kombat 11, but this isn’t the only fatal accident for everyone in the game. Go to the move list and you will see that the second fatality is locked, with no information on how to get it. However, that information is in play – you just need to know where to look.
Go to the “Kustomize” page from the main menu, which you normally use to exchange skins or change your equipment. Press RB or R1 to go to the “Kosmetics” tab and you will see a section called “Finishers”. Select that and then choose the locked fatality. There, as you can see in the image above, you will find the requirement to obtain it.
In our case, Scorpion’s second Fatality can only be found in the Krypt. There is no quick and easy way to get this move because you have to open treasure chests and hope you get what you want.
