Motorola’s Edge Plus marked the OEM’s return to the flagship market early last year, but it hasn’t been a smooth journey. There’s a lot to like about the device, from the punch-hole camera to the 5G-ready chipset and an impressive build quality. However, the huge 6.7-inch screen has become a bit of an issue. Users have reported a slew of challenges, and here’s what to know about Motorola Edge Plus display issues.

We will walk you through the problems other users are facing and what you can do to fix them. Unfortunately, the outlook is not great as the problem has persisted for almost a year since launch.
What problems do users report?
As you can see in the images above, the Motorola Edge Plus is not limited to just one display issue. Users have reported several problems with purple spots or green hues.
Those who have noticed purple spots have noticed that the problem only starts showing up after using their phone for a long time. When the Motorola Edge Plus has time to cool down, the stains tend to disappear. Unfortunately, the marks will come back when you jump back to long-term use.
To make matters worse, the strange purple spots seem to grow and multiply over time. The spots are most likely a hardware issue as the phone heats up and eventually damages your screen.
The other Motorola Edge Plus display problem that you can see in the above shots is a mysterious green hue. The best we can see is that the green hue is another heat related issue and users were able to fix it by giving the Motorola Edge Plus time to cool down. Unfortunately, a $ 1,000 phone doesn’t bode well if you have to let it rest.
The green hue can also come from an improperly connected cable and usually appears to look worse with certain shades of gray.
Darkened and white displays
If purple and green issues weren’t bad enough, some users have found that their Motorola Edge Plus randomly turns completely black or all white. The problem can also occur on a small area of the screen even on phones that just came out of the box. Unfortunately, it follows the mysterious trend of the green and purple problems due to users not being able to find a good source.
It should be noted that we have not seen any of these display issues with our Motorola Edge Plus review device. We noticed that the screen darkens towards the curved edges, but that doesn’t seem to be related.
Display Problems with Motorola Edge Plus: Is There a Solution?
Now you know you’re not alone, but what can you do about it? Motorola has done its best to keep users informed in a very active forum that has sadly hit its 120th page. We recommend participating to get accurate information on updates and replacements as the most recent comments date back to May 2021.
So far, we’ve had a forum administrator respond to numerous comments that promise promising software implementations. Indeed, Motorola has pushed said updates, and they often fix the problem – although it seems to return after a few weeks or months.
Acknowledging that some Motorola Edge Plus units may be too far away, the forum administrator wrote, “We’ve seen this software fix the problem, but in some cases the” spots “may be too advanced to fix this way.”
Your other option is to find a replacement device from Motorola. However, this may not put you in a better position as the problem seems universal. As a result, you may receive your replacement device only to discover that the same issues arise. If you think you might need a replacement phone, try updating the latest software patch first to see if this fixes the problem.
