Nintendo released Animal Crossing: New Horizons on March 20 for the Nintendo Switch and it quickly became a cultural touchstone. With so many people at home and gaming, the release came at a perfect time.
The best-selling game in the series
Animal Crossing: New Horizons was an overwhelmingly successful hit with fans, and sold out quickly after its release in Japan. In fact, 1
In North America, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the best-selling game of March 2020 and is now the second best-selling game of 2020. It surpassed other popular Nintendo titles, such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018), at the launch sales.
In Europe, New Horizons remains at the top of the bestseller list after more inventory became available to retailers. To provide some perspective, sales are higher than all previous entries put together, and more than three times higher than the 3DS exclusive Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

The latest episode was released just when people were being warned to stay indoors, and it couldn't have been a better time. In keeping with other Animal Crossing titles, New Horizons is popular for its fun, family-friendly gameplay, and the new addition to the series is simply gorgeous.
Reviewers are gushing about the Animal Crossing: New Horizons "Island Package Getaway", and with good reason. You start your vacation on a deserted island, with nothing more than the clothes on your back. You are free to do whatever you want. As a player character, it's up to you to take your deserted island to a tropical paradise. You can do it at your own pace and you determine the rules.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons you can communicate with friends and family that you cannot see now. And if your friends don't play, that's fine too. There are plenty of people online who are happy to trade furniture and talk with you about turnip prices for hours.
There is also an entire Discord community devoted to Animal Crossing . Reddit has a huge thread where people exchange friend codes – an invitation mechanism that allows external players to connect and play. The entire community is super helpful and friendly, which makes sense because there is so much more to experience with other players in the game.

There's plenty to do if you enjoy playing solo. One of my favorite things about New Horizons that is a significant upgrade from Animal Crossing on GameCube are the different ways you can communicate with the inhabitants of your island.
Residents send you letters, give you new nicknames, give birthday parties and even sing for you! There is always something new and talking to the inhabitants of my island never gets old.
Residents communicate with their environment in many different ways. They interact differently with other residents, depending on their personality type, of which there are eight. They will also interact differently. They have emotions. Sometimes they are happy or sad with each other, and it is up to you to suppress any disputes that may arise.
But that's what I love about this game – everything feels interconnected and it is relaxing to sit at the end of the day.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons everything is impermanent and it is easy not to stress about the imperfections. A house placed in a location that you are not satisfied with? No problem! You can move it later in the game.
You have the control and time to enjoy renovating your island the way you want it. Due to the global lockdown, people have more time than ever to play games. And the latest entry in the franchise Animal Crossing provides a relaxed gaming environment to spend time in.
Every day in the game you are confronted with something new to discover. You wake up to new items in the shops, new hybrid flowers, a new coastal dishwashing recipe, new campers and random sellers with exclusive items. It breaks the monotony of being locked up in your real home every day.
There are also numerous events that Nintendo organizes for players. Couples organize wedding ceremonies on their islands, and graduates can invite friends to in-game graduation ceremonies. Families can play together on the same console, and you can even gift your mom a belated Mother's Day mug!
Nintendo does a great job of providing additional events and bug fixes that allow you to play for hours on end.
On the other hand, there are plenty of things in Animal Crossing that you have no control over (unless of course you travel time).

Just like your routine in the real world, there will be times when you're forced to wait until the next day. The shops close at night and the turnip market is only available for a week before it resets. Sometimes you have to wait a whole day before you can enter a shop that is under renovation.
This sense of relaxed transience is what makes the Animal Crossing series so special. It is interesting to see how players express disappointment or surprise when the cherry blossoms end in April and realize that it is the fleeting nature of time-bound events that make them so special. There is an inevitable sense of change, some of which you can and cannot control. It is truly a unique experience.
For most, it is just the right balance of structure and freedom. It's even great for people who don't normally play video games. Audrey, an 88-year-old grandmother who played 3,500 hours Animal Crossing: New Leaf picked up Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the help of fan donations shortly after launch.
Nintendo seems to have recognized the hype surrounding Audrey & # 39; s playtime on New Leaf with a brand new villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons . Many players believe that a coral-colored wolf named Audie is a reference to Audrey.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is easy to learn and fun for the whole family. It's no wonder so many people come together to play a perfect island vacation in these difficult times.
