Nintendo is discontinuing uploading courses for the Wii U version of Super Mario Maker on March 31
The changes will no longer be available in the game’s course world, such as looking up bookmarked courses and updating the rankings of fun courses. Users attempting to gain access will see an error on or after March 31. However, users can still play courses uploaded before the feature was discontinued.
Starting March 31st, it will no longer be possible to upload courses in #SuperMarioMaker for #WiiU. See link below for more information. Thank you to all players for supporting the Wii U version of the Super Mario Maker game since 2015! Https://t.co/aPtUh8QVd6 pic.twitter.com/bZahjD3yK7

While Nintendo has not provided any reason why these changes will be made, it is stated that the discontinuation will not affect Super Mario Maker 2 for the Nintendo Switch. However, the Wii U version may not be as popular as its Switch counterpart and Nintendo feels that supporting both versions is too expensive.
