Chances are that you use your smartphone to order food from restaurants. There are tons of apps that make it easy. However, Google Assistant on Android makes it even easier. We’ll show you how.
This feature is thanks to the same “duplex” technology that allows Google Assistant to purchase movie tickets on your behalf. Just start the process and Google will streamline much of the experience and do a lot of work for you.
As mentioned earlier, this is only available on Android devices. You also need the Google app and the Chrome browser.
First, search for a restaurant in the Google app and select it to open its information page. Tap the button “Order online”
The restaurant’s website opens in Chrome and Google Assistant appears at the bottom of the screen. You will be instructed to select your food and the Assistant will return to assist with the checkout.
When you are done choosing your food proceed to checkout. This is where Google Assistant reappears to wrap things up. You will be asked to make some final choices. Tap “Continue” to go through them.
Finally, you will be asked to enter your contact information and a payment method. Tap “Continue” to finish.
You will see Google Assistant fill out all the details on the order site for you. It may ask you to enter your credit card CVC. When you are done, you can tap “Checkout” to complete the order.
That is it! The first time you use the feature, it may not seem like it saves you a lot of time. But once all of this data is entered, the checkout process will be much faster the next time you order food.
