With pro Overwatch players on the road were always Blizzard's plan for their global eSports league and 2020 had been reported as targets. Nanzer's message does not reveal what next year's format will actually look like. Players may need to fly between three continents for their games, beyond what can be an intense training schedule. They may need to travel even further if the league expands beyond its current range of 20 teams next year.
Notifying the home city's focus in advance should give teams plenty of time to prepare for arenas and address potential visa issues. For example, a Chengdu Hunters player from China had a visa application rejected before the start of the current Overwatch League season.
