It is time to make some more room at the cosmetics counter of augmented reality.
This week, social media giant Pinterest unveiled "Try On", a virtual makeup visualization tool that runs on its visual search tool Lens. The feature is now being implemented for US users of the Pinterest apps for iOS and Android. (I was able to access it via the iPhone app, but not yet on Android.)
Try On is accessible via the camera tool in the search section of the app, where users have a "beware" button that changes the view to the front and a carousel for different shades of lipstick. In addition, users can access the tool via the "try it" button embedded in lipstick-related content on boards.
After arriving at a desired look, users can swipe up to shop for the selection or take a photo to pin to a board or share by other means. Participating brands are bareMinerals, Estée Lauder, Neutrogena, Sephora and selected L & # 39; Oreal brands, namely Lancôme, NYX Professional Makeup, Urban Decay and YSL Beauté.
