New leaks suggest Google is preparing to introduce an all-new Pixel 6 and a larger Pixel 6 Pro. This week, our first look at the “Pro” came from a trusted source, teasing a massive high-end device ready to compete in late August.
These renderings showcase a unique design that is completely different from any previous Google phone. And aside from the obvious orange accent color, the Pixel 6 Pro has a massive 6.67-inch curved screen and could be the largest Pixel phone to date.
The display is expected to use an OLED panel with a built-in fingerprint scanner, but there is no report on whether Google will provide a high refresh rate. Then, like most phones lately, the front camera is placed in the screen, at the top center of the phone.
Previous reports suggest that Google will use its own internal processor, similar to Apple’s approach, rather than a typical Qualcomm chipset. However, we will have to wait and see.
While the rear camera is reminiscent of the Nexus 6P, it is Google’s most ambitious design to date. More importantly, Google could finally offer triple rear cameras. Those are the main camera, ultra wide angle and a new periscope style zoom lens like the Galaxy S21 Ultra. In short, Google will finally rival the competition with wide and telecameras.
The smaller Pixel 6 (of unknown size) may only offer dual rear cameras, while Google reserves triple cameras and a larger screen for the Pro.
We’re not sure if Google will call it the ‘Pixel 6 Pro’ or stick to the Pixel 6 XL naming scheme. What we do know is that Google is absolutely committed to a unique design, while going big for the Pixel 6 series thanks to upgrades to the camera, screen and design.
Finally, previous reports refer to three color options: Arctic Blue, Sorta Orange and Mostly Gray. Finally, we can see a Pixel 6 release date around August 26.
