One of the iPhone 1
PopSockets first announced its MagSafe compatible products late last year. The company then released a series of PopSlide handles that can slide up and down the back of the iPhone 12 without interfering with MagSafe charging. Now we get the real deal: magnetic PopSockets.
The first products in the PopSockets MagSafe series are the PopGrip and PopWallet +. Both grips attach magnetically to your iPhone and are relatively easy to remove, yet sturdy enough to hold. The MagSafe-compatible PopGrip and PopWallet + also feature hot-swappable PopTops, which offer tons of customization (if you have a ton of PopTops).
That said, these aren’t your grandma’s phone grips. PopSockets suggests using these grips with a MagSafe compatible phone case, saying not to hold your iPhone 12 in the air with the magnetically attached PopGrip. While we haven’t tested them yet, it seems the MagSafe PopSockets aren’t as secure as their adhesive counterparts.
The MagSafe PopSockets are also a bit expensive. At $ 30, the MagSafe PopGrip is three times the price of regular PopGrips, and the $ 40 MagSafe PopWallet + is nearly twice the price of other PopWallets. I think that’s the price of a good MagSafe accessory!
You can now order the MagSafe PopGrip and PopWallet + from the PopSockets website. If you’re concerned that the MagSafe PopSockets aren’t secure enough, consider getting the PopSlide, which costs just $ 15 and doesn’t interfere with wireless charging.
