Re-enabling a semi-tied jailbreak to restore access to Sileo «iOS and iPhone :: Gadgethacks

Compared to completely unbound jailbreaks, semi-unethered methods such as Chimera for iOS 12 have a big handicap: you have to repeat the jailbreak every time when your iPhone is turned off or restarted. No matter how intimidating it may seem, kick-starting the mod and restoring your tweaks is still fairly easy.

Every time you restart your semi-tethered jailbroken iPhone, it returns to its original, unmodified state. Although this makes Sileo and all the tweaks you have installed useless, they have not been removed. So there is no need to jailbreak your iPhone again ̵

1; you just have to reactivate it to put all your mods back into use.

Restart with a semi-tied jailbreak

Keep in mind that this should work regardless of whether you've sideloaded Chimera with Cydia Impactor or downloaded it from Safari or another browser. If you've done the first, you'll probably have to reinstall the jailbreak tool because they expire every 7 days unless you are an Apple developer.

Second, it is important to note that depending on your device and how many tweaks you have, it may take several attempts to restore your jailbreak. During tests performed on an iPad 6 on 12.4 and an iPhone X on 12.1.2, only one attempt was needed to start the mod for the first … but at least a dozen for the last . So be patient and repeat the process below if it doesn't bite the first time.

Finally, we recommend a battery level of more than 50%, because it may take a few minutes to complete. If the device dies during jailbreak, you may be forced to restore and update the latest firmware, completely losing your jailbreak if something goes wrong.

Step 1: Open Chimera

To re-enable the jailbreak of your iPhone, first disconnect all internet connections and switch on airplane mode. From there, open Chimera from your home screen and then press the "Jailbreak" button in the middle. Keep in mind that during the process the screen of your iPhone turns black and only displays a circular loading icon, so give it some time to respring .

Step 2: Open Sileo and check jailbreak [19659005] If it went without problems, mods that you applied such as AutoUnlockX and HideBarX are active again. To further verify your jailbreak, you must open Sileo and check for full functionality.

All your jailbreak mods – like hide icon tweaks – will kick back as soon as your iPhone is successful.

Again, if your respring and your Sileo tweaks still do not work, repeat these steps again. It may take several attempts, but you will eventually get it.
