Amazon has made it easier to get only the motion alerts you want from your Ring cameras with customizable motion zones. While they have always had motion detection capabilities, these zones help you monitor only the areas that are most important to you. Here̵
First, open the “Ring” app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device and select the camera you want to adjust.
Then tap the gear icon.
Select the “Motion Settings” option in the camera settings menu.
If this is your first time setting motion zones, you will see a popup explaining them. Tap ‘Continue’.
From the ‘Motion Settings’ menu, tap ‘Edit Motion Zones’.
By default, the first movement zone is a global zone (marked in blue). Tap ‘Add Zone’ to create your own.
A series of dots will appear around the highlighted area. Drag them to create your first zone. The first zone is highlighted in blue. When you’re done, you can name the zone and then tap ‘Save Zone’.
You can now see your first zone (in this case the zone called Side Yard). If you want to create another one, tap ‘Add Zone’.
Just like the first zone, drag the dots to arrange the highlighted area for your new zone. This second zone is marked in red. Give it a name then tap ‘Save Zone’. You can only create three motion zones per camera.
You are done! If you need to, you can come back and adjust the zones to your liking, adjust the sensitivity of the motion zones, or even activate the “People Only Mode”, which will only alert you when the camera sees a person walking through one of your zones.
