Silicon Valley season 6 on HBO: Release date, trailer, cast and more

  La quinta temporada de & # 39; Silicon Valley & # 39;

They are back for season 6, this time in a gigantic workspace. Ali Paige Goldstein / HBO.

It has been a long, turbulent path for software engineer Richard Hendricks and his file compression algorithm, but luckily things looked good for him and his shabby cohorts at the end of the fifth season of Silicon Valley from Pied Piper. Their cryptocurrency PiedPiperCoin has finally picked up some market forces and the gang toured through the huge multi-level excavations where the growing team will continue to work on their decentralized internet. Will PiperNet really be the game changer that Pied Piper has promised? Will it even live to score another user? And what happens to our often confused heroes?

We will discover when the sixth and final season of the Emmy-nominated HBO comedy about flawed but sweet techies from Northern California begins in October.

This is what we know so far about season 6.

Silicon Valley season 6: Everything to know

When is the release date?

After production delays, Silicon Valley returns to HBO on Sunday, October 27.

How many episodes will there be?

The last season will be the shortest of the series. Season 6 has a total of only seven episodes compared to eight to ten episodes in previous seasons. Episodes are available one per week.

Do we have a trailer?

Yup. A trailer released in August lets Richard testify before Congress about the security of user data and look even more awkward than when Mark Zuckerberg did it in 2018 .

"He looks like a kid in a messy hearing," snaps Richard & # 39; s employee Gilfoyle (Martin Starr).

In addition to Richard & # 39; s clumsy testimony, the trailer shows Jian Yang ( Jimmy O. Yang ) confessing that he has done something illegal and that Hooli's Gavin Belson (Matt Ross) seemingly ready is to adopt Amazon and asks: "Is it a river? Does it have to be a giant woman? It is not clear!"

Recurring cast

T.J. Miller played as an entrepreneur and incubator-wrangler Erlich Bachman until his much-published exit from the show after season 4. We saw him for the last time leaning back in the Tibetan opium cave where Gavin Belson left him, and there is no word about whether he was a cameo would make it last season.

What we know about the plot

Not too much, other than what we have seen in the trailer. We know that the internet from Pied Piper & # 39; of the people, by the people and for the people & # 39; is influential enough to give Hendricks a place for the congress and that Jian Yang is back, with a straight face as always. And we know that Jared has a hard time when Richard goes from a low-level programmer to a high-profile CEO and his loyal adviser seems to need less than usual.

"Jared must learn how to tolerate distance from Richard as the company grows," Woods told me .

If the show sticks to its usual patterns, the Pied Piper team will encounter more obstacles on their way to success, but will probably eventually triumph, probably due to unforeseen, last-minute maneuvers.

"It ends with something unexpected and still very satisfying, at least for us." Starr, who plays Bertram Gilfoyle, told me.

How can I watch?

To view the last season, you need a subscription to HBO (or a friend with one), but if you don't have a cable, you can pay for HBO Now, a streaming subscription version of HBO that doesn't & # 39 ; t requires a regular cable subscription (or even a TV). Not sure if you will like it? You can stream HBO Now for 30 days for free. And you can overtake the past seasons via HBO, Amazon Prime, iTunes and Hulu. In the UK, Silicon Valley is usually shown on Sky and Now TV.

What does the future offer for the creative team?

HBO has ordered two new comedies from Mike Judge, who also created Beavis and Butt-head and co-created King of the Hill. QualityLand, an adaptation of the satirical dystopian novel by the German writer Marc-Uwe Kling, unravels the story of "the struggle of humanity against the tyranny of ease – but funny." Judge will serve as the executive producer and co-writer of the show, set in the near future.

Judge & # 39; s second upcoming project for HBO, titled A5, is a limited live action series about a bio-engineer discovering the gene responsible for turning people into bastards. The protagonist will try "to answer the questions that all of us nag: why do bastards exist? Why have they started to dominate our culture? And can they be cured?"

Meanwhile, Alec Berg will continue to work on the much-praised HBO-dark comedy Barry, which he produced with Bill Hader and executive.

This story was originally published on September 4 and will be regularly updated when the news of season 6 comes out.
