With the power of Google Assistant behind it, the range of smart speakers from Google Home is excellent at answering almost every question you ask. But when something goes wrong with your device, it's not that you can just ask, "OK, Google, what's wrong with you?" to find a solution. However, there is a good chance that there is probably a quick and easy solution to any problem with your Google Home speaker or hub.

Although generally quite reliable, Google Home speakers and screens peep from time to time. Not to mention, they rely on other devices in your home network to function – your modem and router, smart home hubs and bridges and your smartphone. If one of those defects occurs – your router hacks or a bridge is disconnected – the entire system can crumble.

The Google Home app sees no devices

When you try to set up a new Google Home speaker or hub, the error is & # 39; No devices found & # 39; the Google Home equivalent of the blue screen of death. You can't do anything until you know what the cause is.

For iPhone

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.

For Android Phones

Make sure that you have enabled Location Services .

1. Tap Settings > Security and location > Location > Use location.

2. Make sure the switch is on.

3. Tap Settings > Apps and notifications > Google Home app > Permissions > Location .

4. Make sure the switch is turned on.

Make sure the latest version of the Google Home app is installed.

1. Open the Google Play store .

2. Tap the icon of three stacked horizontal lines in the upper white bar.

3. Tap My apps & games .

4. Select Update all or search the Google Home app and choose Update only for that.

Force close and restart the Google Home app.

Google Home cannot connect to my lighting or the smart home

For many people, their Google Home is more than just a smart speaker or display – they are the brains behind their entire smart home. But if you suddenly can no longer turn on the light or the AC with your voice, you might think that a smart home is not such a brilliant idea. This is what you must do.

First, check if you can operate your smart home devices from their individual apps. Brands such as Phillips Hue, Ring Doorbells and Nest Learning Thermostats all have their own respective apps that you can use to control their equipment. If you miss one or more, go to the App Store or Google Play and download them by searching for the product name.

If you cannot operate your smart home directly make sure that the devices you are trying to operate are connected to your network.

If you can operate your lights from the Hue app for example, the problem is probably not the lights (which means the problem may be with your Google Home).

Next, make sure you are using a mobile device with the same Google account that is currently associated with the Google Home.

For both iPhones and Android phones

1. Open the app Google Home .

4. If this is not the case, tap the arrow button next to the account name and select the account that is linked to the Google Home.

If all else fails, restart your entire network. Disconnect everything, wait about three minutes, then go back and connect everything one by one in the following order, waiting for each to be fully switched on before the next one is started:

1. Your modem.

2. Your router (if it is separate from your modem).

3. All smart home hubs or bridges.

4. Your smart home equipment, including smart lights, switches, locks, doorbells and cameras.
