A third stimulus check could arrive so quickly the end of March, with almost certainty that the House of Representatives will use the $ 1.9 Trillion Incentive Bill, to be transferred to the Senate for a final signature by President Joe Biden. And with new rules popping up this time a new incentive paymentyou probably wonder if you qualify for a Check for $ 1,400

While the new check is much bigger than the first two, and will include more people in the admission rules such as dependent persons, there are also requirements that a smaller check (or none at all) to others. Which brings us to the question: who can be disqualified from receiving the third party payment? Even filing your taxes early or later — could determine your stimulus, control fate

The third check will be much more “targeted” and targeting vulnerable Americans, which will no doubt happen change the entire stimulus check equationHere’s what we know so far about who shouldn’t receive a check this time. This story was recently updated.

Whether you are qualified may depend on when you file tax returns

If you are equal to the income limits described below, when Filing your tax return can make the difference between whether or not you qualify for a partial check. That’s because it’s most likely one the third stimulus check would take place mid-tax seasonThe IRS is expected base your next incentive and check your taxes for 2019 or 2020depending on what’s in the file during processing.

like you file your taxes early or request an extensionBoth actions can affect the annual earnings numbers the IRS will use. If you earned more in 2020 than in 2019, you may want to submit a file later. If you were disqualified in 2019, but earned significantly less in 2020, filing earlier could be in your favor. Stimulus Check # 3: What You Need to Know

Individual taxpayers with an AGI of $ 100,000 or more in 2019 or 2020 will be disqualified

The new stimulus check could start to wind down after $ 75,000, under the “targeted” incentive plan (see below). If your adjusted gross income (AGI) $ 100,000 or more, you are not eligible for a third party payment of any amount. However, if you make between $ 75,000 and $ 100,000, you can get a cut of the check. You will receive the full amount if your annual income for the year is less than $ 75,000. Here is how to calculate the amount you could receive.

Heads of households with an AGI of $ 150,000 or higher are not eligible

As with the cutoff for the single taxpayer, household heads (people who do not collectively and claim a dependent) with an AGI of $ 150,000 or more are excluded under the new proposal. To get a partial incentive payment, you would need to make between $ 112,500 and $ 150,000. But to get the full amount, you need to make less than $ 112,500 if you are the head of the household.

Married couples filing jointly with an AGI of $ 200,000 or greater are not eligible

If you are a married couple filing jointly and have an AGI of $ 200,000 or higher, you will not be eligible for the third stimulus check under the new proposal. To qualify for the full payment of $ 1,400, your combined family income must be less than $ 150,000. The amount you could receive will be reduced after that amount until you reach the limit.

Non-US citizens or “non-resident aliens” are again not eligible

If you are considered a non-resident alien by the IRS, you will not be counted on the third stimulus check. The government defines a non-resident alien as someone who has “failed the green card test or the substantial attendance test”. For example, if you are studying abroad in the US.

At the first stimulus check, non-residents were required to have a Social Security number and live and work in the US to qualify for benefits. However, in the second audit, the rules were changed to make this possible families with a non-civil spouse to qualify for a second incentive check, even if they have a tax identification number (ITIN) from the IRS and not a Social Security number. See more below.

Are non-citizens married to a US citizen eligible?

If you are considered a non-citizen, you may or may not receive a stimulus check, depending on a number of factors. At the suggestion of Biden, households of mixed status with at least one family member who could be a social security number qualify for the third stimulus check, assuming they meet the other requirements, including income limits.

Non-affiliates will have to go the extra mile to get their incentive money.

What if you live in a US territory, such as the Virgin Islands?

With the first two incentive checks, people living in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands may have been eligible for payments. Whether these groups were eligible for an audit has been determined in the past by the tax authorities in each area. These agencies were also instructed to make the payments. It’s probably the same situation for the third stimulus controls.

If you have never received payment for one or both of the previous incentive checks, you should contact your local tax authority for more information.

What if I am a non-filer and don’t usually file a tax return?

If you are a non-finder and are usually not required to file income tax, you likely qualify for the third stimulus check. However, if you are missing money from a previous check, you may have to go the extra mile to get your money by filing your taxes this year. If there is one problem receiving part or all of a third check, it is likely that you will have to file a claim during tax season 202 in a year. We will know more once a third payment is approved.

What if a family member has passed away since filing my 2020 taxes?

It depends on which tax return the IRS uses (see above). For example, if the IRS complies with your 2019 tax return, it is likely that you will keep the amount you received for the deceased. On the first stimulus check, the IRS asked people to do that return the money for someone who died since the previous tax return. With the second check, if your spouse died in 2020 and your AGI was less than $ 112,500 per year, you would be eligible for the full amount of $ 600.

We’ll know more once a third stimulus check has been passed by Congress.
