Singaporean studio Stuck Design has just been created Kinetic Touchless Elevator Buttonsso we never have to touch one again. This is great news considering the way COVID-1
The Kinetic Touchless button mimics the action of a standard button, but uses gesture as input method instead of direct contact. All you have to do is put your finger in front of the button and move it forward just like you would while pressing the actual button, and the contactless technology responds accordingly. The button even physically moves in and out with your gesture.
On the studios site, it states, “As non-contact interactions increase over COVID-19, most non-contact technology tends to use a static sensor with a light or buzzer to indicate an activated button, significantly reducing interaction with the push button. On the other hand, the Kinetic Touchless button uses motion as feedback, “and that” By going beyond the expected feedback of light and sound, Kinetic Touchless provides a surprisingly delightful yet newly familiar way to communicate with contactless technology. “
Stuck Design already has a working prototype, which is great, but the technology is still experimental and not found on any lift. Hopefully the design can go into production and distribution soon, as no one likes to press dirty elevator buttons (even without COVID-19).
