The price of 5G phones seems to be in a nose dive. Metro, formerly MetroPCS and now a sub-brand of T-Mobile, is selling the cheapest we’ve seen so far: just $ 20. It’s a new budget model from Motorola, the One 5G Ace. But as you would expect with a price this low, there are a few conditions attached to it.
First, the deal is only available in Metro stores ̵
As for the rest, it is an interesting gadget. With a 6.7-inch 1080p screen and a massive 5000 mAh battery, it’s on the edge of the scale for size in 2021. Those who like big, bright screens and long browsing sessions will appreciate it. The Snapdragon 750G chip is perhaps more than you can expect from a budget model, the same for the 128GB storage.
The phone has triple rear cameras and a fingerprint reader (it’s hidden in the Moto logo), but lacks even more premium features like wireless charging. It runs on an outdated version of Android 10. The unlocked version, currently sold on Motorola’s site, costs $ 400.
Metro’s site guides potential buyers to the nearest Metro retail locations via an online tool. Considering how much demand is for such a phone and how Metro could limit deliveries to areas that actually have 5G service at the moment, I would call the store and double check that they have a phone in stock before traveling go.
