The best FFAR 1 gear in Call of Duty: Warzone

Given the current state of the meta in Call of Duty: Warzone, there are plenty of viable options for primary weapons. That was not always the case. When the Cold War integration took place in December 2020, a few weapons in particular dominated the playing field and the number of options players had at the time decreased significantly. One of those weapons was the FFAR 1, an assault rifle with a very high rate of fire. It has since been redesigned to be more balanced and after the update the weapon now feels strong without being overpowered.

It will probably never feel the way it once did, but that’s a good thing. Now it’s much more in line with the other assault rifles in the game. The FFAR 1

is still a versatile weapon, with many build options. In this guide, we’ll run through a few recommended builds that are sure to suit your playstyle – whether you’re a go-getter or someone who likes to shoot from a distance. These are the best FFAR 1 gear in Call of Duty: Warzone.

FFAR 1 overview

First we need to describe in detail how the FFAR 1 works and what its best features are. Despite its recent nerf, it’s still a great option to run as a sniper support weapon. This is because it feels lightweight, has a high rate of fire, but can still take out your opponents at about 30-50 yards or so. It still feels like a cross between an SMG and an assault rifle, making it an ideal choice for pairing it with a sniper.

Overall, the FFAR 1 has a fairly high recoil due to its high rate of fire. In fact, you want to completely avoid trying to secure eliminations with this weapon from more than 150 yards as it probably won’t get the job done. The other key point with this weapon is that it blasts through ammo quickly, so you’ll always want to use the 50-round magazines by default. The standard amount on the FFAR 1 is only 25, which is simply not enough. This means the weapon isn’t as forgiving if you miss your shots, so it takes some getting used to. That said, let’s take a look at the recommended gear.

Gear FFAR 1: Best Short Range

End of a loop Suppressor
stock Raider stock
underflow Field agent Grip
Ammunition STANAG 50 Rnd
rear handle hose wrap

The close-range build for the FFAR 1 is unusual in that this assault rifle feels like an SMG. With the Cold War assault rifles, you feel much faster on your feet than with those of Modern Warfare, so you can get away with using an assault rifle as an SMG if you apply the right attachments. For this build, we recommend taking on opponents up to a height of about 25 meters. Start with the standard Suppressor Muzzle, which has recently been improved. This gives you natural noise cancellation, an aim-down-sights (ADS) speed boost, a bullet speed boost, and a better sprint-to-fire rate. It does hurt your effective damage range slightly, but that’s irrelevant to this particular build as it’s intended for close quarters.

Go ahead and skip a barrel for this one, as none of them are worth having with an AR setup up close. You can also get away with skipping an Optic, as you don’t need too much zoom at about 25 meters. Then apply the Raider Stock to give the weapon a higher ADS movement speed, faster movement speed when aiming, and improved sprint-to-fire time. You will feel the bonuses of this attachment when an enemy surprises you at close range, as you can quickly start firing after sprinting.

We almost always recommend using the Field Agent Grip for the Underbarrel. This attachment greatly improves the FFAR 1’s vertical and horizontal recoil, which will come in handy as the rate of fire can make it more difficult to control, even at close range. And, as we mentioned before, you’ll always want to use the STANAG 50 Rnd ammo type because the rate of fire is what makes the weapon blast through ammo so quickly. One thing to note is that we always advise using the STANAG 50 Rnd over the Salvo 50 Rnd Fast Mag as the latter will slow your ADS times considerably. One of the key FFAR 1 nerfs was the ADS speed, so you’ll want to try and fuel it even further.

Finally, equip the Serpent Wrap Rear Grip for improved ADS speeds. As you can see, this build is intended for fast ADS times and lightweight mobility and is designed around close-range accuracy. With that in mind, you shouldn’t be taking on missions more than 75 meters away with it, as the attachments aren’t meant for that kind of mission. This is great gear for those playing on Rebirth Island, but it can still function on the traditional Verdansk map.

As for benefits, we always recommend EOD for the first slot, Ghost of Overkill for the second slot, and Tune Up or Amped for the third slot, depending on the mode you’re playing. Since this build is intended for close quarters, you’ll definitely want to have an extra weapon that’s effective at longer ranges, like a sniper, LMG, or assault rifle. We like the M16, so you can give that a try. Plus, this build is great for running and shooting, which fits the RPG nicely. As for equipment, you’ll have to stick with molotov cocktails or thermite or semtex grenades along with a heart rate sensor or stuns.

Gear FFAR 1: Best Mid-Range

the-best-ffar-1-loadouts-in-call-of-duty-warzone
End of a loop Agency Suppressor
barrel 19.5″ Reinforced Heavy
optics hawksmoor
underflow Field agent Grip
Ammunition STANAG 50 Rnd

While the previous gear works well in close quarters situations, it’s not always practical. For that reason, we recommend giving our mid-range FFAR 1 build a try. This still works well from 15 to 50 yards or so, giving you a little more versatility as you play. Since you need more range with this gear, we recommend going for the Agency Suppressor Muzzle instead of the regular Silencer. This prevents you from appearing on the minimap while firing, but also improves vertical recoil control, bullet speed and damage range at the expense of ADS speed and aiming stability. Since this is a long-range weapon, the ADS’s speed penalty isn’t a big deal.

After that, we recommend applying a barrel, specifically the 19.5″ Reinforced Heavy. Again, this is great for those longer range fights and improves your effective damage range and bullet speed. Follow that up with an Optic, preferably something that gives you less than 2.0x zoom. We love the Hawksmoor, but there are plenty of fantastic options with this build. If you can still use the iron sights effectively then you will have more power, but an optic greatly improves how effective the FFAR 1 is at medium to long range, especially as it has moderate recoil.

The rest of the build is the same as before. Use the Field Agent Grip Underbarrel to improve your recoil control and the STANAG 50 Rnd Ammunition type to have enough rounds to take out your opponents. You’ll find this build is a hybrid of the short and long range setups, focusing on accuracy without compromising mobility and ADS speed much.

For perks, stick with the same as stated above. You have a bit more flexibility with your secondary as this weapon works at close to medium range, so you can get away with carrying a shotgun, sniper, LMG or tactical rifle. This is another great build for Rebirth Island as most of your battles on that map will be close to medium range.

Gear FFAR 1: Best Long Distance

the-best-ffar-1-loadouts-in-call-of-duty-warzone
End of a loop Agency Suppressor
barrel 21.2″ Ranger
optics Axial arms 3x
underflow Field agent Grip
Ammunition STANAG 50 Rnd

Finally, let’s take a look at the best FFAR 1 gear for longer distances. The thing about this weapon is that it will never function as an M16, a Stoner 63 or (obviously) a sniper as the FFAR 1 is more intended for firefights up to 75 yards. But if you are someone who is comfortable with this weapon and can control it in long-range combat, this gear will help you. Again, start with the Agency Suppressor, the best long distance muzzle. This will make it easier for you to shoot from afar and prevent you from appearing on the enemy’s minimap.

Then go with the longest barrel, in this case the 21.2″ Ranger. This is the best barrel for long range as it increases your bullet speed without compromising your recoil control. You might be tempted to apply the final Barrel, known as the 19.5″ Task Force, but it seriously damages your recoil control, which isn’t worth using on the FFAR 1. After that, we recommend using an optic with a higher zoom, such as the Axial Arms 3x. This Optic was recently grained, but it still works well for assault rifles, giving you plenty of zoom. The grain makes the range take up less of the screen so you can’t see as much of the zoomed-in image when aiming down, but this actually frees up more of your peripheral view – so it’s a trade-off.

As for the rest of the build, it’s the same as before: apply the Field Agent Grip Underbarrel for that boost to gain recoil control – which is essential in all situations – and the STANAG 50 Rnd ammo, which is also a must with this weapon since its rate of fire is so fast and the time to kill in war zone is slow.

Pairing an SMG like the Bullfrog or the Mac-10 with this weapon is a great idea. Even a shotgun will work well in many cases. Make sure you are aware of this weapon’s recoil pattern and high rate of fire as it can be more difficult to use if you are new to the game or just not used to the FFAR 1. Again, this build is ideal for Rebirth Island, but can work on Verdansk if you’re someone who likes to play with a squad that may be able to provide long-range support fire.
