If you try to keep the keto, winter is a bit of a minefield. To start with, the cold weather makes us all feel like starchy comfort meals. Then the holiday starts and entails an attack of dreamy carbohydrates and sweet sweets. And of course there is football; that glorious junk food-filled Sunday tradition that is oh-so-American and oh-so-good. It is all enough to send every diet package, let alone the regulatory keto diet.

If you are one of the many who have recently joined the keto movement, you know that getting your body in a state of ketosis (and staying there) is a tricky business. And if you've taken the time (and exercised the reluctance) to get it there, you don't want to give it all up for a few bad beers and a plate of chili nachos, right? Well … maybe, but the good news ̵

1; regarding the keto-fication of a daily menu – is that meat and cheese are the cornerstones of the trendy keto diet and happen to be what most people expect to watch the big game (or a game). Well, that and beer.

You will want some salty, cheesy indulgences and, luckily for you, cheese is a fair game. Break out the Instant Pot or slow cooker to prevent the queso from solidifying during the event. Avocado is really the crown jewel, recruiting superstar and, in many ways, the face of the keto movement. It contains many healthy fats and few carbohydrates, and most people love it, so consider making a few variations on guac to keep it fun. You can start with a standard base and then add nice mix-ins such as crabmeat, shrimp, diced ahi tuna or bacon. Chile is a sleeper when it comes to ketobusters, and beans are usually the culprit, although tomatoes with a high sugar content take on part of the blame. Because you dump the beans in this version, feel free to increase the number of onions and pepper (maybe add a few different varieties and colors) or add diced zucchini for texture. <p>  Buffalo chicken dip, or "buff chic dip" as it is known in my home state of Rhode Island, is another keto recipe that gives hope that we may be able to open this low-carb game day menu. Totally addictive, I would describe it, and most people I encountered usually agree with that. Historically, light beers – especially bearings – are better than other types, but there are a number of really interesting new low-carb, low-cal beers on the market (including IPA's) to choose from.

But you can also take this opportunity to explore more interesting drinks with drinks and make a few low-carb cocktails. There are a number of low-sugar, keto-friendly wines on the market, but if football is not a wine shop for you, what about a tasty large batch cocktail?
