CR-56 AMAX overview

First, let’s take a look at the weapon in general, with general tips on how to use it. While you can build it in a variety of ways, it mainly shines from medium to long range. If your commands are between 20 and 50 meters, you will find the CR-56 AMAX to be very effective. With that in mind, you shouldn’t use this weapon in close quarters combat, especially when taking on a player using a shotgun or SMG. The AMAX is powerful but much slower than short range weapons, so you should definitely play to its strengths.

Likewise, the AMAX probably won’t work well on commands over 150 feet or so. But thanks to the gun’s slower rate of fire, it’s easy to stick to your target as long as you can control the recoil pattern. Having the right optics can also help with this. Now that we’ve covered all of that, let’s take a look at a few AMAX gear and see how you can use them.

Best for long distances

Ammunition 45 round magazines

Let’s discuss the most commonly used AMAX class first. This build is best used on medium to long distances and is widely considered the default lineup of competing players. Often there is debate about which attachments to use for particular weapons, but in the case of the AMAX, this equipment is the one most players gravitate towards.

As usual for long distance Modern warfare assault rifles, you should start with the Monolithic Suppressor Muzzle. This attachment penalizes your target speed down (ADS) and targets when walking, but gives you noise cancellation and a wider range of damage. The drawbacks of this attachment are not that big of a deal as you use this weapon remotely. Then apply the XRK Zodiac S440 Barrel, which improves your damage range, bullet speed and recoil control. All of these perks are ideal when you want to take on enemies from afar – especially the bullet speed boost. This ensures that you don’t have to reroute your shots as often.

Since you will be using these remotely, we highly recommend optics. The iron sights aren’t bad, but you’ll want some extra zoom to get a clearer view of your target. We highly recommend the VLK 3.0x Optic as it gives you a clear view and has a clean reticle. Others are great too, like the Solozero Optics Mini Reflex or the Cronen C480 Pro Optic, but we highly recommend giving the VLK a try.

Follow that up with the Commando Foregrip Underbarrel for increased recoil stabilization and aim stability. Again, this is ideal for counteracting the moderate recoil of the weapon. It will slow down your weapon, but that’s a small price to pay for a more stable shot. Finally, we always recommend equipping the 45 Round Mags Ammunition type with this weapon while playing War zone. In normal Modern warfare multiplayer, you can get away with 30 round mags, but in War zone, the default is to have at least 40 bullets in your weapon, be it an SMG or an assault rifle.

Since this is a long-range version, you’ll definitely want to bring a secondary SMG or shotgun for a more versatile loadout. Something like the MP5 or PPSh-41 works great for covering yourself up in those 15 meter missions. Depending on your play style, you might consider equipping claymores to monitor entrances to any building you hold. Aside from that, a heart rate sensor is great for knowing if there are nearby players who don’t have the Ghost benefit.

Speaking of perks, although there is a bit of variation across the board, most players tend to use EOD or Double Time for slot 1, Ghost of Overkill for slot 2, and Amped for slot 3. Many of the perks in it game are not convenient, but if you stick to it, you’ll be in good shape.

Best all round

While the CR-56 AMAX is best used over long distances, you may not like how slow the above build is. That’s absolutely fair as a lot of players tend to run and shoot even with heavier guns. If you are a player who likes to keep moving, you should consider using a modified version of the build we detailed above. In essence, this kit consists of largely the same attachments, with two major changes.

To start, swap the Monolithic Suppressor Muzzle for the Tactical Suppressor. This still keeps you from showing up on your enemy’s mini map, while maintaining your mobility and ADS speed. This will compromise your range, but if you’re running and shooting you shouldn’t be attacking enemies from afar anyway. You can still secure eliminations with this attachment at about 30ish yards or so which will be handy.

After that, go ahead and add an optic with less zoom, such as the Aim-Op Reflex Sight. This will improve your ADS speeds, which is important when dealing with medium range opponents. Remember this is still an assault rifle so you won’t get all the benefits of an SMG, but this build will feel much lighter. As for the rest of the equipment, the benefits remain the same, but the equipment may differ for you.

Since you will be running around a bit more with this build, it is a good idea to bring thermite or molotovs. And of course we recommend a secondary like a sniper or shotgun. With this weapon it can go either way, as this AMAX build falls somewhere in the middle.

Best for mobility / mid-range

We have one final build for you, and it is aimed at players who will be using the AMAX exclusively at medium to even short range. We don’t normally recommend using the AMAX this way, but if you’re playing on Rebirth Island this build can be effective. Most all recommended attachments are for maintaining speed and ADS times with this particular build.

Apply the Lightweight Suppressor Muzzle to start as this will still keep you off the enemy’s mini map while maintaining mobility and ADS speeds. You will find that this attachment will significantly reduce the effectiveness of your weapon at range, but that’s okay since you’ll be using this up close. This makes you much more agile while playing.

Then we recommend the FSS 8.3 Intruder Barrel for this build. The Intruder Barrel improves your ADS speed and movement speed at the expense of bullet speed and recoil control. If you find this too clunky, you can swap it out for the FSS 11.8-inch Squall Barrel, which won’t hurt your recoil control. With this build, you can definitely get away without using an Optic, so go for the Tac Laser instead. This will again improve your ADS speed as well as your aim stability and directional stability when walking, which is ideal at close range.

Then, as always, stick with the type 45 Round Mags ammo. You can swap the Underbarrel attachment for a rear handle with this gear, as speed is your priority. Use the XRK CR-56 Stippled Wrap Rear Grip for a big boost to ADS speeds and sprint to rate of fire. This version of the AMAX will feel a lot more like an SMG, so if you’re playing on Rebirth or just want to try something new, this build might be for you.

In terms of benefits, Double Time works well in this case, as you will move a lot more. Plus, the Tracker Perk also comes in handy when you’re close to your opponents as it temporarily shows their footprints on the ground.
