One of the first major content updates to The Division 2 added a new specialization to the looter shooter. Named Gunner, the fourth specialization, you can wield a powerful minigun, lob Riot Foam grenades, and use the disorienting Banshee item. Here’s how to unlock and use the Gunner specialization.
How to unlock Gunner
Since specializations are end game lessons, you will not be able to view or access the Gunner specialization if you have not completed the campaign.
More bad news: unlocking Gunner isn̵
You can check the field survey requirements by pressing Triangle / Y on Gunner while on the specialization bench (in the White House). Only Stage 1 goals are listed until they are completed.
In Phase 1, you’ll need to shock Roach twice before killing him at the Bank’s HQ, capture all Downtown West checkpoints with the Sharpshooter specialization, kill 20 enemies with the mounted rifle at the Grand Washington Hotel, and five public executions complete activities with nothing but sniper rifles.
So keeping score means you have to replay two main missions (at least once) and a whole bunch of side activities – just to get through Stage 1.
Phase 2 asks you to capture every control point in the southwest while the survivalist specialization is active, fire Lieutenant Kennedy three times before killing him on normal difficulty or harder, kill enemies after trapping them in foam and complete five propaganda missions. using shotguns.
For phase 3 you have four more tasks. The first is to Sgt. Wade’s helmet before killing him on normal or harder, capture all control points in Downtown East and Federal Triangle using the Demolitionist specialization, defeat confused enemies, and perform five convoy activities using only SMGs.
Phase 4 is just like the rest. Start defeating General Ridgeway without using an armor kit on normal or harder, take out five heavy weapon enemies in the open world, kill enemies after marking them with a pulse, and defeat five territory control activities using an assault rifle alone.
Four more tasks await in the fifth and final phase. You must break all of the Basilisk’s armor before killing it normally or harder, use mounted weapons to kill enemies in the Roosevelt Island Stronghold, complete checkpoint activities with just one LMG, and ultimately kill open-world enemies using mounted weapons.
Year 1 Pass owners get immediate access
You can skip the unlocking process completely by purchasing the Year 1 Pass for $ 40. If you have the Year 1 Pass, completing the field research will unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards.
The Year 1 Pass gives you access to three DLC episodes seven days early (the first releases later this summer), eight exclusive classified assignments, other exclusive goodies and yes, instant access to the new specializations. Since Gunner is only the first of three unlockable specializations, you’ll likely need to grind a lot more without the Year 1 Pass.
Gunner: the basics
The Gunner Specialization gives agents access to a new signature weapon – the Minigun. Resembles the powerful cannons in which large green / yellow enemies roam The Division 2, the Minigun turns your agent into a tank that can quickly kill groups of enemies. It is also an ideal weapon for taking down bosses from close range.
After unlocking Gunner, you will have three skill points that can be applied to the unique skill tree in the specialization menu. That’s enough to unlock the class-specific grenade, Riot Foam. These grenades bubble up around enemies, preventing them from moving and using their weapons for a short time.
Gunner Specialization also comes with a new unlockable item, Banshee. Banshee sends an arc of pulse energy to enemies that will confuse them whether they are in cover or not. Two additional mods can increase Banshee’s reach and increase its duration.
As with the other three specializations, Gunner also has a slew of unlockable abilities that do things like increase weapon damage, generate ammo and increase the rate of fire. While playing as the Gunner class, you earn points that you can spend in the skill tree.
