Do you remember that typing without physical keys seemed ridiculous? Now, touch types are the smartphone standard. That said, errors are inevitable on small screens. So before you start hammering at that delete key or shaking your iPhone like crazy, you know there is a better way to undo text that you didn't want to type – no shake involved.
The new gesture is exclusive to iOS 13, Apple's latest update for iPhone. If you have not yet updated it, you must use this to use the gesture. When you're done, just swipe three fingers to the left to undo text. You can swipe anywhere on the screen, including the keyboard, to get the job done. If you are not precise, you could communicate with other items on the screen, so practice makes perfect.
Undoing text messages with just three fingers to the left is an excellent example of how Apple tried to simplify the way we edit text on an iPhone. And best of all, it not only applies to text, it also works with images and other media in text documents.
Plus, it works system-wide, so it not only works in Apple apps such as Mail, Messages, Notes and Safari, but the gesture can be used in Facebook, Twitter and other third-party apps. You'll find more gestures like this, as well as a host of new changes and features when you update to iOS 13.
