What could be better than a Nintendo Switch? What about Starlight Nintendo Switch Gaming Station, which is specially designed for use by children who are confined in hospitals and health centers. The colorful station comes with 25 great games and can be driven from room to room.
Starlight has collaborated with Nintendo of America for 28 years and has delivered 7,200 Starlight Gaming Stations to more than 800 hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country. The latest version of the station was announced last year at Mary Bridge Children̵
“Gaming brings happiness to hospital trapped children by providing entertainment and much-needed distraction from stressful situations. It can even provide emotional support, resulting in less anxiety and a better mood, ” Starlight stated in his announcement.
Available in four designs – Mario, Donkey Kong, Princess Peach and Yoshi – the station has a closed design that makes it easy to disinfect and clean. The lineup of 25 games is pretty impressive too. It features a solid variety of indie and AAA game titles, such as Super Mario Maker 2, Minecraft, Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Cuphead, Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Mario party.
The games provide not only distraction, but also a sense of adventure and a way for the children to solve problems, practice strategy and creativity. This is especially important given that COVID-19 has closed hospital playrooms, which used to be a great way for hospitalized children to enjoy and distract themselves during their stay.
