This Raspberry Pi robot can shred any song on ‘Guitar Hero’ India News, The Indian Express

Even if you were good at it Guitar Hero during its heyday, you probably lacked the skills to beat “Through the Fire and Flames”

; on the highest difficulty. It’s nothing to be ashamed of – even Jon Bot Jovi, a Raspberry Pi powered Guitar Hero robot, occasionally misses a note.

Created by Nick O’Hara, Jon Bot Jovi is a life-size robotic guitarist who moves through every song on Guitar Hero, even if it has never been practiced on the track before. The robot reads a video stream from a PS2 to see which notes to hit, achieving close to 100% accuracy with no dirty tricks.

Funnily enough, Jon Bot Jovi actually presses each of the Guitar Hero controllers knobs and strums notes with his right hand (if you can call it that). The robot’s “fingers” are actually electromagnets — electromagnets that move a rod up and down — controlled and powered by a Raspberry Pi 4.

You can see Jon Bot Jovi blowing past “Through the Fire and Flames” in the video above. You can also find all the hardware Nick O’Hara used in the description of the video.
