The LG V60 is one of the better phones of 2020. It is packed with excellent features, including the Quad DAC, the Dual Screen case, a surprisingly good camera, front-facing speakers and one of the best battery life we've ever seen. In addition, it supports more niche functions such as HDMI out. In short, the V60 can do almost everything you need. There are plenty of people who switched from LG to LG for the first time to try out these features. We want to help make the transition as fun and seamless as possible. Here are some great tips and tricks for LG V60 owners to get the most out of their devices.

Do: check the resolution of your camera
The LG V60 puts its camera shots standard at 16 MP, or about 25% of the actual 64 MP range. You can change it in the camera app settings, but it will be reset when you close the app completely. Another, faster way to change this is to tap the 4: 3 icon at the top of the screen and change it to 4: 3 64 MP. We can only guess why LG made this decision and why you can't set it to 64 MP by default, but if you want the sharpest pictures with the highest resolution, you have to manually change it to 64 MP before picture. In most cases, 16MP recordings still look very good.
Do: Download More LG SmartWorld Camera Modes
<img class = "lazyload aligncenter size-large wp-image-1124055 noname aa-img" title = " LG V60 additional camera modes "src =" data: image / svg + xml,% 3Csvg% 20xmlns =% 22http: //www.w3.org/2000/svg%22%20viewBox=%220%200%201200%20675% 22% 3E% 3C / svg% 3E "data-src =" https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/LG-V60-extra-camera-modes-1200×675.jpg "alt = "Screenshots of the additional LG V60 tips and camera modes The stock camera app comes with over half a dozen camera modes, but there are two more you can add to the mix. Open the camera app and use the carousel to go from Photo mode to More At the top right corner there is a download icon and pencil icon Tap the download icon to open LG SmartWorld and download the Cine shot mode and 360 Panorama mode from da ar. You can use them right away in the camera app when you're done.
Do: Control LG's excellent manual camera and video modes
LG was one of the first OEMs to offer manual camera mode and one of the few to offer manual video mode. This gives you excellent control over your photography. Most people judge a phone's camera based on auto mode since this is the camera most people use and there is some truth to that. However, good manual mode recording usually trumps automatic mode recording. You can enable manual modes from the camera app's carousel menu and go to the More section. You can go a step deeper with the Graphy app, as it works perfectly with LG's manual mode. Between the app and some practice, you can take some seriously impressive photos with the V60.

For starters, it is a lot better than the old one and there is actually a pretty good selection of themes, backgrounds and icons. It looks almost identical to Samsung's theme store. People who have switched from Samsung devices should feel right at home without the lack of Theme Park. Themes can occasionally cost a few dollars and LG accepts PayPal as a payment system. Themes work across all standard LG apps, the settings menu, the picker, and a few other places. LG's new theme store works much better than the old one, which is almost useless and one of the least ergonomic apps I've ever used.
Do: Try LG's Hardware Tests
Do: Use the Dual Screen case as a game controller
Most people see the dual screen case as a kind of productivity function. It works perfectly, but it can also do quite a few gaming things. It should work natively as a hardware controller extension for games with hardware controller support (such as emulators). However, with LG you can create your own controller that maps itself so that virtually any game can have controller support. We have the full tutorial with even more LG V60 tips on how to do that here. It takes some getting used to, but it really works really well and makes the Dual Screen case a surprisingly excellent gaming feature.
Do: Use the WideMode app and BrowserHelper apps for the Dual Screen case
LG did not include many extra features for the V60 Dual Screen case out of the box. However, an external developer has helped a lot. Yutaka Tsumori has two apps in the Play Store. These are WideMode and BrowserHelper. With WideMode, you can turn almost any app into a Wide Mode app, expanding Wide Mode's functionality by many orders of magnitude. BrowserHelper ensures that the V60 automatically opens web links to the second screen in a new browser window, which also extends the functionality of the Dual Screen.
Do: Use the Quad DAC if you can
Lots people use Bluetooth nowadays, but according to statistics, most people still have wired headphones. The Quad DAC is an excellent piece of audio technology that properly powers your headphones (or earburds, IEMs, etc.) and makes music sound better. There are a few ways to optimize and customize the experience in the settings, along with a few apps that play really well with the Quad DAC (including UAPP, an excellent local music player). Check out our tutorial here for more LG V60 tips for using the Quad DAC.
Do: Consider turning off 5G to save battery
The LG V60 has a giant 5000 mAh battery. However, it has quite a few things that pull extra power. Without the Dual Screen case and with 5G turned off, this phone can easily last two full days without charging . However, one of the things you need to do is turn off 5G. It is a relatively simple task. Go to Settings Network and Internet and finally Mobile networks . Use the Network Mode option to switch to LTE / 3G / 2G . Sure, you can leave 5G on if you really want to, but it's not that much faster than 4G and it's really only useful in busy network environments with fewer people.
Do: Set Up and Use LG Pay LG Pay Splash Screen "width =" 1200 "height =" 675 "srcset =" https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04 /LG-Pay-splash-screen-1200×675.jpg 1200w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-300×170.jpg 300w, https: / /cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-768×432.jpg 768w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/ LG-Pay-splash-screen-16×9.jpg 16w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-32×18.jpg 32w, https: // cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-28×16.jpg 28w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG -Pay-splash-screen-56×32.jpg 56w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-64×36.jpg 64w, https: // cdn57 .androidauthority.net / wp-content / uploads / 2020/04 / LG-Pay-splash-screen-712×400.jp g 712w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-1000×563.jpg 1000w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/ uploads / 2020/04 / LG-Pay-splash-screen-792×446.jpg 792w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-1280×720.jpg 1280w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-840×472.jpg 840w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads /2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-1340×754.jpg 1340w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-770×433.jpg 770w , https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LG-Pay-splash-screen-356×200.jpg 356w, https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/wp-content/uploads/ 2020/04 / LG-Pay-splash-screen-675×380.jpg 675w "sizes =" (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px "data-attachment-id =" 1105802 "data-test-source_title =" "data- test-credit = "" />
LG Pay is a surprise send strong option in the tap-to-pay landscape. It has NFC support just like Google Pay and Apple Pay. However, it also uses a magnetic stripe emulator similar to Samsung Pay. That means it works on most terminals, even those that don't normally support NFC payments. It is not that difficult to set up, but the bank support is a little lower than we would like. We have a tutorial here with everything you need to know about LG Pay if you want to give it a shot and it will support your bank.
Don't: Don't use the New Second Screen feature
The LG V60 does a lot of things right and then does a few things really wrong. The New Second Screen feature is one of those things. It works sometimes. But even if it does work, it only works in LG apps, home screen and Settings menu. Opening Facebook or any other app will immediately disable the mode and make the notch visible to everyone. In addition, the new second screen mode does not work when you have turned on dark mode (night mode on the LG V60). It's a half-baked holdover from LG & # 39; s negative software past and we hope they end it soon.
Don't: Don't Use the Smart Cleaning Features
Most people know right now that smart cleaning features and apps are usually hogwash. Unfortunately, apps and OEMs (including LG and Samsung) continue to make such things public. LG's Smart Cleaning feature does the basics, which includes shaking open apps to free up RAM and remove trash to free up internal storage. Constantly forcing apps to close, however, can cause malfunctions (up to missing notifications). The data that is deleted is cached data of apps, most of which actually use that data to function better. Unless something is really wrong, you wouldn't need all of this and if something is really wrong, Smart Cleaning won't fix it.
Don't: Don't forget to make it touch sensitive with screen protectors
Installing a screen protector is an excellent idea. It helps protect the main screen from scratches and can prevent it from breaking. Screen protectors can also mess with the built-in fingerprint reader (which is already a bit slower than average). LG has a touch-sensitive setting, especially for use with screen protectors. Just go to Settings and then Extensions . You will see a switch to increase the touch sensitivity. Enable that and rerun your fingerprints if you're using the built-in fingerprint reader. From there you shouldn't have any problems using the phone with a screen protector.
Don't: don't use dual screen screen protectors
This is kind of bastard, but it's actually great advice. You can put a screen protector on the main screen and that's fine. Placing a screen protector on the Dual Screen case causes some issues. It is absolutely doable and you don't risk breaking anything. The Dual Screen case simply does not close completely with two screen protectors installed. This can introduce lint and other foreign objects to the inside of the case and may even damage screen protectors. We are absolutely convinced that you should protect your investment as much as possible, but this time it may work against you.

Don't: Don't Do Disable Optimized Charging
rooting your phone and viewing the optimized charging feature in the battery settings. You should definitely keep that setting turned on. Basically, the phone limits the charging speed because of the battery life. Unless you really need a quick recharge in the middle of the day, you shouldn't be using fast charging on any smartphone, so it's nice of LG to include a limit for its long life. If you charge overnight, charge slowly and slowly to keep the battery healthy for as long as possible. We only recommend disabling this if you need a surge charge in the middle of the day, and with the 5000 mAh battery that's pretty unlikely for most people.
