TrueVR's Tikal: Night of the Blood Moon is a full VR arcade experience

Site-based VR allows multiple people to jump into the same virtual space. It is not something that is really possible at home. Everyone would need a computer and you probably only spent one hour bumping into each other. But so far we have usually seen groups of about four people in VR at the same time – but Zero Latency goes over it in their systems. The Void only allows groups of four. Zurich-based TrueVR wants to take up to 10 people in VR at once.

This week, Tikal announced the night of the Blood Moon, a full body VR arcade experience. The app uses motion recording, physical props and 4D effects to teleport players to an old temple. You play as a group of explorers who want to stop an old evil from awakening.

Experience is played over about 21

00 square feet. Users wearing an Oculus Rift, tracked by OptiTrack's site-based solution. In VR they work together to advance through the temple, walk through caves and over lava. The trailer reminds us little about Escape The Lost Pyramid, Assassin's Creed-wrapped VR experience from Ubisoft.

This will be TrueVR's fifth VR arcade experience. Previously, the company has worked with a shooter called Patient Zero and other titles such as Cube and Temple of Diamond Skull. Places range from Switzerland to Chile.

Tikal will first appear on Dreamland Virtual Reality in London, Ontario, Canada on April 1st. TrueVR will then bring it to a new VR center launch in Switzerland early in the month. No word on possible editions in the US and the UK yet.
