Conor McGregor is back this weekend. After losing Khabib Nurmagemedov in October 2018 – in a rivalry that often went to weird, racially charged areas – McGregor returns to the octagon on UFC 246 against favorite favorite favorite Donald " Cowboy "Cerrone. The press conference is over, both hunters have now earned their weight . Now only the fight remains.

And love him or hate him, there's nothing like a fight with Conor McGregor. The structure, the media, the interviews – McGregor has a way to increase the stakes of every match in which he is involved to absolute fever. This time he tests his unique high pressure / punching style against Donald Cerrone, a hunter who is also known for his involvement in entertaining battles. The twist? The fight is on welterweight (170 pounds), not on featherweight (145) where McGregor has earned its reputation, or lightweight (155) where McGregor was once champion. Welterweight gives Cerrone, who had a very successful run at 170, a clear size advantage over McGregor.

In short, this is not a reconciliation battle. It is a fascinating match that most expect that McGregor will win, but this is MMA and anything can happen.

Press Conference

The press conference has come and gone, but you can view the replay here. It was a relatively tame affair compared to previous McGregor press events, but there was some gold here and there.

It is an interesting dynamic. Conor is clearly busy with the redemption tour and Cerrone just seems to be happy for the ride.
