Use shortcuts directly from iPhone and iPad home screen

There are tons of ways to launch a Shortcut, including from the Shortcut app, Siri, and widgets. But the fastest way is to use a shortcut on the home screen. Here̵

7;s how to use shortcuts right from the iPhone and iPad home screen.

There is a definite advantage to launch shortcuts right from the home screen. If you are using iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3 or later, you can run and use shortcuts without opening the Shortcuts app. If it’s a headless, interaction-free shortcut, the shortcut will work on its own and you’ll see a notification.

If it’s an interactive shortcut, you’ll see a compact user interface at the top of the screen where you can make selections, enter information, and more. The Shortcuts widget also offers the same functionality, but takes up a lot of space. You can have four shortcut icons instead of a single shortcut widget.

You can add a shortcut to the home screen (with a custom name and icon) from the shortcuts app.
