First of all, of course, you need to be a Google Photos user for this feature to work. The other thing you will need is the Google Home app for iPhone, iPad or Android, where the installation takes place.
Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet, find your Google TV device and select it.
Tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the device page.
Then select “Ambient Mode” in the Device Settings.
You will now see the different options for the screen saver (Ambient Mode). Select “Google Photos” from the list.
Albums from your Google Photos account, the account associated with the Google Home app, are displayed. Select all the albums you want to see in Ambient Mode on your Chromecast with Google TV.
When you’re done selecting albums, tap the back arrow in the top left to continue.
Then there are a number of additional Ambient Mode options. You can choose to display the weather, time, device information, and personal photo information. You can also place portrait photos side by side, enable photo management, and adjust the slideshow speed.
The last thing you might want to adjust is how long the TV screen stays on, or how long your slideshow plays. On your Google TV device, select your profile icon in the top right corner of the home screen.
Then select “Settings” from the menu.
Scroll down and select ‘System’.
Scroll down again and choose ‘Energy saving’.
The Energy Saver setting determines how long the screen stays on when it is inactive. Select “Turn Off Display” to change it.
Finally, select one of the time intervals from the list.
That is it! You will now see your Google Photos albums on your Chromecast with Google TV in Ambient mode!
