Chromebooks keep improving every year, and they’re finally real laptop alternatives. They don’t suffer much from the limitations of tablets, but Chromebooks still have a few quirks. One of these drawbacks is that iTunes cannot be easily downloaded on a Chromebook. It’s an unfortunate hurdle to deal with, and it can pose major problems for iOS users. Fortunately, there is a solution, and here’s what to do.

Mainly, we are going to show you how to transfer your favorite iTunes songs to YouTube Music. Google Play Music has gone the way of the dodo, so this is your best bet. You can technically boot your Chromebook running Linux and add iTunes that way, but it’s very complicated for most users.
Using iTunes on a Chromebook

Again, there is no easy way to download iTunes software to your Chromebook. Instead, we’ll show you how to download and port YouTube Music. You already have a YouTube Music account thanks to your Google account, so this should be really easy. Here’s what to do:
- Open Chrome on your Chromebook and go to the YouTube Music homepage.
- Select the More button in the top right corner (it should look like three vertical dots).
- Find and select the Install YouTube Music button from the drop-down menu.
- Click Install in the pop-up window to confirm your selection.
Now you have YouTube Music installed on your Chromebook and we can really get into the most important steps.

How to Copy Your iTunes Library to YouTube Music

You have already installed the correct app on your Chromebook, so now you need to go to the Mac or PC where you have iTunes music enabled.
- Install the YouTube Music Chrome app on your Mac or PC.
- After installing the app and signing in, click your profile icon on the YouTube Music home page.
- Find the Upload Music option in the drop-down menu.
- In the window, find your iTunes folder and select the songs, albums, or anything else you want to add.
- Now click Open to upload the items to YouTube Music.
You may find that it helps to label your iTunes folder very clearly before uploading. This can save you some time in finding your favorite songs and albums.

How do you access the iTunes music you uploaded on your Chromebook?
All the hard work has been done at this point. Your music is already calling YouTube Music home, but how do you like it? It’s not in the main section of your library, but you can go to the Uploads section of your Songs tab. From there, you can access everything you’ve uploaded in one convenient place.
What if you switch to Apple Music?

If you ditched iTunes in favor of Apple Music, you can basically skip any of the steps we talked about above. Apple has built a version of its Apple Music app for Android, so you can just head over to the Play Store and download it. Once it is installed just open the app and log in. Now you should be able to dive into all of your favorite songs and playlists without any hassle.
