Streaming music services offer a huge music library, but only if you have an internet connection. However, Spotify can download music for listening offline. Here̵
What you need
You must be a Spotify Premium subscriber to download music for offline playback.
Moreover, unlike the mobile apps, Spotify for desktop only supports downloading playlists. The playlist must first be saved to your library.
How to Go Offline in Spotify for Windows and Mac
To begin, open the Spotify desktop app for Windows 10 or Mac. You must first select a playlist to download.
Then the playlist should be added to your library. Tap the three-dot menu icon and select ‘Save to your library’.
Once you’ve added it to your library, the “Download” switch will appear. Select it to download the playlist.
The Spotify app will say “Downloading …” while the playlist download is in progress. When it is done, the switch will say ‘Downloaded’.
If your computer does not have an internet connection now, you can play this playlist.
How to put Spotify into offline mode
If you want to put Spotify into “offline mode” manually, you can do that too.
In Windows, click the three-dot menu icon in the top left corner.
Select File> Offline Mode.
Click “Offline Mode” to make Spotify go offline.
That’s all there is to it. Again, it’s a bit cumbersome that this only works with playlists added to your library. If you want to download a single album, you can put it in a specific playlist. The next time you don’t have WiFi, you can still rock to tunes.
