When will I receive my stimulus check by post? Track your status with the postal service

With Informed Delivery you can see when your stimulus check has been sent.

Visit the WHO website for the latest news and information on the coronavirus pandemic.

Your coronavirus stimulus check comes by mail, but how do you check when it arrives? Perhaps you went to the IRS portal to track the payment (here's how) and saw a message that your check was sent in US mail. Or if you qualify for a payment of up to $ 1,200 from the federal government but have not filed a direct deposit with the IRS, your paper check can be delivered by the post office. Or maybe you had problems with the portal you gave up and now just wait for your paper check by the IRS.

Whichever way you tried to control, you now know that your stimulus money has come – but not when. To see your schedule, you can use the US Postal Service's mail tracking app and service, known as Informed Delivery, to be notified when your check arrives.

See if you can use Informed delivery

When the postal service passes mail through its automated mail sorting equipment, it creates a digital image of the front of all letterbox mail. The Informed Delivery program uses this digitally recorded information to notify you when each piece of mail is on its way.

The service is available for many private and personal mailbox addresses, but not for companies. It will also not work for some multi-unit buildings where the postal service has not yet identified each unit.

Here's how to check if it's available in your area.

1. Go to the Informed Delivery Service page and tap the Sign up for free button.

2. Enter your mailing address and tap Continue.

If the service is available, you can continue to create an account.

How to See What You Receive by Mail

The IRS said it could take three business days for your account to activate after you set it up. Once it's live, you will receive an email every morning from Monday to Saturday informing you of the scheduled delivery, along with a grayscale image on the front of the letter.

You can also use the free Android and iPhone Informed Delivery app to be notified.
