Where to find the climbing equipment in Breath of the Wild

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Link can travel anywhere on the map (if equipped with the right tools). There is no shortage of terrain to explore, from the depths of the deepest lakes to the peaks of the highest mountains. Focusing on those peaks, Link needs specific equipment to effectively climb their steep slopes. This requires you to find all items of the climbing equipment. This guide walks you through where those pieces are in the vast world of Breath of the wilderness.

Please note that the climbing equipment is divided into three pieces: Climber’s Bandana, Climbing Gear (Torso) and Climbing Boots. These three pieces can be found in three different shrines around Hyrule. In each shrine, Link must fight enemies and solve puzzles. That said, here̵

7;s how to go through each shrine to find its climbing equipment.

Ree Dahee Shrine and The Climber’s Bandana

Ree Dahee Shrine BOTW

This shrine is located in Dueling Peaks, specifically under the ‘ue’ in the word Dueling. You can find Dueling Peaks in the south of West Necluda. Enter the shrine to start the puzzle.

Solve the puzzle

The purpose of this puzzle is quite simple. All you have to do is get the ball from point A to point B by pressing a series of buttons. However, ushered in by the shrines’ lower heading, “Timing is Everything,” Link will also have to be keen to get rid of the buttons. Each time you solve a phase of the puzzle, a platform will take Link to the next phase. If you mess up any of these puzzles, don’t worry. The ball will reset from the stage you are on.

Ball # 1: Step on the button. The ball rolls down the slope and lands in the circle.

Ball # 2: Step on the button to tilt the platform to the right. Step off the button as soon as the ball is halfway through so that it drops to the level below and continues to the left.

Ball # 3: Step on the button to get the ball rolling. When it’s near the end, about fifteen minutes away, step off the button to raise the platform and effectively throw the ball where it needs to go.

Ride the platform and use your magnetic rune to grab a barrel at the bottom right. Go back to that third button and use the barrel to hold it. Ride back up the platform and run to a chest on the left.

Chaas Qeta shrine and the climbing equipment (torso)

Chaas Qeta Shrine BOTW

This shrine will be placed on Tenoko Island in the Necluda Sea. You want to go to the southern peninsula. This is the southernmost point of the map below Lanayru Mountain. Activate the shrine on the cliff, then slide off the cliff to the island below. Land on the island and enter the shrine.

There will be no puzzle in connection with this sanctuary. Instead, you are faced with a Guardian Mini-Boss to defeat. This mini boss fight is by no means difficult. It may take a few minutes to learn its moves and weapons, but it can be shipped like any other Guardian. Once you’ve defeated the Guardian, enter the hallway and open the chest to find the climbing gear (torso).

Tahno O’Ah Shrine and The Climbing Boots

Tahno O'Ah Shrine BOTW

This shrine can be found by teleporting to the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. You should have already unlocked this location as long as you have progressed far enough in the story. It is an important part of the storyline of the mission. For this last sanctuary, it is imperative that you equip cold resistant equipment or have some cold resistant food available.

You are going to an area southeast of Lanayru Range. On the world map, they look like a cluster of rocks to the left of an otherwise open area. Once you arrive, use a remote bomb to destroy a breakable rock wall and find Tahno O’Ah Shrine.

This is the easiest shrine to do as there are no enemies or puzzles to solve. Perhaps the challenge was to find the sanctuary at all. Walk in, open the chest and claim the climbing shoes as yours.
