Did you know that you can see when the post office will deliver your stimulus payment if the IRS sends you a paper check? Maybe you went to the IRS portal to track the payment (here's how) and saw a message that your check would arrive by mail and want to know when you can budget. Or maybe you qualify for a payment from coronavirus but have not filed direct deposit with the IRS, so a paper check is your only option there.

Or you may meet the requirements for a check up to $ 1,200, but had problems with the IRS portal raised your hands and now waiting for your check to arrive by mail from the IRS. . Whichever way you tried to check your payment schedule, you now know that your promotional money is coming, just not exactly when.

To find out when it will arrive, you can use the US Postal Service's free app and service, known as Informed Delivery, to be notified when your check is about to arrive. (Meanwhile, this is what we know about the possibility of a second round of stimulus checks .)

Get Eligible for Informed Delivery

When the USPS passes mail through its automated mail sorting equipment, it creates a digital image of the front of all letterbox mail, including your stimulus check. The Informed Delivery program uses this digitally recorded information to notify you when each piece of mail is on its way.

The service is available for many private and personal mailbox addresses, but not for companies. It also does not work for some multi-unit buildings where the postal service has not yet identified each unit.

To check if it is available in your area, do the following:

1. Go to the Informed Delivery Service page and tap the button Register for Free .

2. Enter your mailing address and tap Continue .

If the service is available, you can continue to create an account.

How to See What Comes in the Post

The IRS said it could take three business days for your account to be activated after you set it up. Once it's live, you'll receive an email every morning Monday through Saturday if an email is scheduled to notify you of the mail to be delivered, along with a grayscale image of the front of the letter.

You can also use the free Informed Delivery app for Android and iPhone to be kept informed.
