Answer: ENIAC

ENIAC, or the electronic numeric integrator and computer, was the first general electronic computer. The overall purpose of the designation depended on programmability – instead of being built for a single task, it was built for each task for which the operator could submit a program. Although costly, extensive and difficult to program, the ENIAC platform was enormously valuable for the military and scientific communities.

Although the machine design process began in 1<div class=
943, the end product was only revealed to a public formal demonstration of its capabilities on February 14, 1946. The demonstration made quite an impression and was seen by the press and public as a giant brain and a miracle of design.

ENIAC is said to be very influential in military development and operations where it was used to calculate artillery firing tables and, more commonly, to crack figures for the Manhattan Project. Although the program was sponsored by the Ballistic Research Laboratory (and therefore the interest in the use of computers for artillery tables), prominent hydrogen bomb researcher John von Neumann enlisted the help of the computer as soon as he became aware of its possibilities. The first calculations made on the machine were for the hydrogen bomb and the total import / export of the operation consisted of no less than a million punch cards.
