You expect a stimulus control of coronavirus but it has not yet arrived. What gives? Be patient, there may be a number of things going on.
First, here we are with the payments. Since mid-April, the IRS has been steadily sending payments of up to $ 1,200 each to eligible U.S. residents. In the third week of May, the agency made about 140 million million payments worth $ 239 million, with about 10 million checks to go.
When your check arrives, you will receive it as a paper check by post, as a prepaid prepaid card, or as a direct deposit to your bank account.
The payment process was sometimes bumpy with CNET readers reporting to the IRS that their checks had been sent or deposited weeks ago, but that they have not yet received them or that they have updated their bank details using the IRS Get My Payment Portal in April and still cannot see the status of their payment.
If you've checked the IRS Get My Payment portal and haven't found the answers you're looking for, here's what we know about possible reasons your check hasn't arrived yet.

Where's my stimulus check?
Check if you are really eligible
This is who is eligible for a stimulus payment :
You are a single US resident and have adjusted gross income of less than $ 99,000 You file the head of a household and earn less than $ 146,500
You file together without children and earn less than $ 198,000
You are the parent of a child aged 16 or younger Keep up to date with the coronavirus pandemic.
The IRS has scheduled your payment for later in the year
Although the IRS has already made 140 million payments, it has a staggering 10 million more to go. In April, the IRS estimated that it could take up to 20 weeks to send each payment, and it prioritizes the payment schedule by first sending checks to those with the lowest incomes. Depending on your adjusted gross income, you may have to wait weeks and possibly several months, according to the IRS plan.
The IRS sends your payment by mail
The IRS has put a lot of pressure to get everyone who was eligible for a check who registered for direct deposit on May 13 . The benefit of direct deposit, the IRS said, was that you would receive your check sooner than by mail. Now that the deadline has passed, the IRS said it will send paper checks and debit cards to those for whom they don't have bank records from late May through June.
The IRS started processing your paper check before providing your direct deposit information.
If the IRS was already sending your paper check when you provided your bank details online, you will still receive your check by mail. The IRS said it can usually take 14 days in this situation to receive payment.
The bank details that the IRS has for you are out of date or no longer valid
The IRS said it uses your bank's bank details for Tax Returns 2018 or 2019 to send your payment. However, some tax preparers set up temporary accounts for their customers to receive their returns, such as on a prepaid debit card. If this is the information the IRS has for you, the service said the payment will be returned and processed again.
If for any reason the bank information the IRS has for you is invalid, the agency says it will send you your check. The IRS said she should check the Get My Payment utility for updates.

Your bank had problems processing the direct deposit
If your bank was unable to process the IRS wire transfer, the payment was refunded and the IRS now sends your check to the most recent address on file either from a 2019 or 2018 tax return or from the mail.
You Owe Child Benefit
If you are past due with child benefit, the IRS said your payment can be reduced or fully deducted. If that happens, the Tax Office will send you a message.
A claimed dependent is not eligible for a payment.
Parents who are not married to each other and do not file a joint return cannot both claim to qualify a child as a dependent. The parent who claimed their child upon return in 2019 may receive payment. Likewise, dependent university students are not eligible for benefits.
You must submit a non-filers form
If you are eligible for a benefit but because of low income, you did not have to file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, you may need to use the non-filers tool from the IRS to provide the agency with your information. If you think it's you, go to the IRS website, check requirements, then provide some basic information to get your stimulus checked.
