Good news Windows fans: Microsoft has announced an upcoming event in which it will detail the “next generation”
Chief product officer Panos Panay and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will both give a presentation. Nadella shared at the recent Build 2021 event: “Soon we will be sharing one of the most significant updates to Windows of the past decade to unlock more economic opportunities for developers and creators. I’ve been hosting it myself for the past few months and I’m incredibly excited Our promise to you is this: today we will create more opportunities for every Windows developer and welcome every creator looking for the most innovative, new, open platform to build, distribute and deploy applications. to earn money.”
Codenamed “Sun Valley”, significant user interface changes are expected and possibly even a new Windows logo. There will also likely be numerous visual improvements, such as the update system icon, File explorer improvements, fixes for app icon rearrangement issues, better support for Bluetooth audio, improvements to Windows base, and a new Xbox Auto HDR feature.
Microsoft is also shutting down Windows 10X, the operating system used for dual-screen portable devices. Now some visual elements of that system are just rolled into Windows 10.
And, as Nadella’s statement hinted, a stronger and more robust economy for makers and app developers within Windows. Microsoft is also preparing a new Windows app store, which we could open to all apps and other payment platforms. But in a few weeks we’ll know for sure when we watch the event on June 24.
