It’s not hard to see why: the Xbox Series S isn’t just a powerful update to Microsoft’s console franchise, it’s the smarter of the two new consoles to get. Priced at just $ 300, it’s the little brother of the $ 500It all plays the same games, but it’s limited to 1440p resolution (versus 4K on the Series X), lacks an optical drive, and only has half the storage (500GB versus 1TB) – but that’s expandable with add-on drives, and Microsoft automatically loads less ambitious textures to better optimize memory space.
Our advice is that if, this is the better console to buy because it’s affordable and doesn’t write many checks your TV can’t cash.
You may be wondering, when will there be enough inventory so most people can get the console they so desperately crave? Well, the news is not encouraging. Microsoft said on November 16 that Xbox stock could be tight until April 2021 and has not had much to say on the topic since then.
For their part, most retailers have not communicated very clearly (if at all) to customers about when they expect to have units for sale. Only a handful were more in advance. For example, Walmart has been keeping customers informed via Twitter of when it drops new inventory.does much the same, only reduces the lead time to be ready for sale. The retailer tweets the availability at the time of failure, directly in contact with customers and gamers.
At least one CNET editor was able to score the Xbox Series S on Amazon last month. The inventory has since gone, but if you’re looking to try your luck we’ve rounded up all the major retailers currently offering the console for sale. Best Buy was the last retailer to withdraw during its pre-order day in September, but it is just one of many stores now offering the Xbox Series S.

Microsoft is offering the Xbox Series S for $ 300, or as part of the Xbox All Access plan, which includes the Series S and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and costs $ 25 per month for 24 months.
