In what the company calls a new world record, Xiaomi just shared how it can now fully charge a smartphone in less than 8 minutes. Today, manufacturers are trying to differentiate their phones by offering tons of cameras or insane charging speeds, and this could be the fastest we̵
Whether Xiaomi will use new USB-C 2.1 cables that can provide these speeds or something else remains to be seen. We know that the company just managed to charge a phone at 200W, taking the system just eight minutes to top up a large 4000mAh battery in a smartphone.
The Chinese company did this with what it calls Hyper Charge, using a modified Xiaomi M11 Pro phone. If you watch the video below, you will see that the phone is at 50% in three minutes and at 100% in less than eight minutes. That’s seriously impressive.

The fun doesn’t stop at 200W wired charging either. Xiaomi took it one step further and managed to wirelessly charge a phone from 0-100% in just 15 minutes. This is also a record with a unique 120W dual coil wireless charging system.
At the end of the day, this is all impressive, and the thought of charging my phone from 0-100 in just eight minutes is extremely appealing. Keep in mind that Xiaomi has yet to release its Hyper Charge technology, and when it arrives, it will definitely need a dedicated charger and probably a new cable as well.
