If you are the kind of person that needs To share the latest and greatest song with all your friends (whether they like it or not), Alexa is about to make that easier. In an update now rolling out, you can ask Alexa to share a song with your friends̵
That’s right; your friends don’t have to subscribe to Amazon Music or even the specific streaming service you use. When you ask Alexa to share the song, it checks what service they have and pulls the song through, be it Spotify, Amazon Music, or anything else that supports Echo devices.
You can’t force songs on people either (thankfully). Instead, they will be notified of a new message. Once they have listened to the message, they can choose to listen to the song. And if you never remember the name of the song you’re listening to, fear not. All you have to say is “Alexa, share this number with Claire” (or John, etc.). They just need to be on your contact list.
If Alexa can’t find the song in your friend’s streaming service options, it will offer a radio station based on the song title and artist name. Amazon says the feature is now rolling out and this is “just the beginning.” It plans to reveal more such features in the future.
What’s unclear is whether any of your friends will appreciate song sharing, or if they will just delete every post and claim it never arrived.
